Alliance for the Wild Rockies is a Missoula, Montana-based nonprofit founded in 1988 to secure the ecological integrity of the Northern Rockies Bioregion through citizen action, conservation biology, sustainable economic models, and environmental law. It has worked to stop road-building and logging in old-growth forests, including blocking a 2,900-acre timber sale bordering Yellowstone National Park that threatened grizzly bear and lynx habitat.
