American Chestnut Land Trust (ACLT) has, since its founding in 1986, provided environmentally sustainable public access to managed properties in Southern Maryland for educational, scientific, recreational, and cultural purposes. ACLT and its partners have preserved over 3,400 acres in the Parkers Creek and Governors Run watersheds, maintaining 26+ miles of trails free and open to the public year-round, plus guided hikes and canoe trips. Its Double Oak Farm also uses regenerative growing practices to raise produce donated to the local food pantry.
