Animas Riverkeeper

The Animas Riverkeeper program, hosted by San Juan Citizens Alliance and affiliated with the international Waterkeeper Alliance, works to protect and restore the health of the Animas River, ensure safe and reliable public access for recreation, and promote transparent, responsible water management. The Riverkeeper monitors water quality in mining-impacted headwaters and participates in Superfund cleanup oversight through the Community Advisory Group for the Bonita Peak Mining District.
