Benmore Valley Project

The Benmore Valley Project implements community-scale firebreaks and ecological stewardship across Lake, Mendocino, and Sonoma Counties in Northern California, using Cal Fire and NRCS grants for fuel reduction and forest health work. In 2018, project collaborators built a 2.5-mile firebreak along Benmore Valley Road that became a critical control line halting the River Fire (Mendocino Complex) days after it was completed.
