The Cherokee Ridge Alpine Trail Association (CRATA), founded in 2004 by Jimmy K. Lanier, is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit that designs, builds, and maintains footpath-only hiking trails around Lake Martin and the Tallapoosa River in central Alabama, on land set aside by Alabama Power Co. Its mission is to promote and preserve nature and nature education in the greater Tallapoosa River Valley, and it maintains over 26 miles of marked trails in Tallapoosa and Elmore counties.
