Allegheny Plateau Audubon Society

Allegheny Plateau Audubon Society, founded in 1984, focuses on data collection, education, preservation, conservation, and restoration of birds and other wildlife and their habitats in Pennsylvania's Laurel Highlands and southern Allegheny Mountains. It operates the Allegheny Front Hawk Watch, one of the premier hawk-migration observation sites in the U.S. and known for Golden Eagle sightings, alongside a two-decades-plus Saw-whet Owl banding program and a Monarch Migration Station for tagging and counting butterflies. The society also runs a Junior Hawk Watcher youth program, guided nature walks, and has contributed to wetland reclamation efforts near Bedford.
