Amazon Conservation (formerly Amazon Conservation Association) unites science, innovation, and community to protect the western Amazon, working on the ground in Peru and Bolivia while based in Washington, DC. It operates biological research stations and protected areas (including the 360,000-acre Los Amigos Conservation Concession in Peru), partners with local and indigenous communities, and runs the MAAP satellite monitoring program to track deforestation and illegal gold mining in near-real time.
