Beach Ecology Coalition is a Los Angeles-based 501(c)(3) educational nonprofit that works to balance natural resource protection with recreational use on California beaches, developing best-management protocols for beach grooming, beach driving, fire rings, and grunion protection. It runs a 'Beach Ecology Basics' online certification course for lifeguards, beach managers, and coastal professionals, and connects a statewide network of coastal ecologists, marine biologists, and park rangers on beach management issues.
