Beyond The Reef International

Beyond The Reef International is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Seal Beach, California, founded in 2018 in response to hurricane damage to Caribbean marine ecosystems. Its mission is to create an abundant, diverse global marine ecosystem while building local community education and pride in the surrounding underwater habitat, through work including artificial reefs built from hurricane-damaged vessels, coral disease monitoring and treatment, derelict fishing-gear removal, shark research, and a cetacean research program in the Virgin Islands.
