Chicago Area Waterways Chloride Workgroup

The Chicago Area Waterways Chloride Workgroup is a coalition of local organizations, based in Naperville, Illinois, working to reduce chloride (road salt) pollution in the Chicago Area Waterway System through a watershed approach. It runs deicing workshops and educational outreach for winter road maintenance staff and helps member organizations adopt best management practices, such as calibrating salt spreaders and using brine and pre-wetting techniques, to cut salt use while keeping roads safe.
