Citizens for Responsible Land Use (CRLU) is a member-supported nonprofit formed in 2016 by residents of North Asheville and Woodfin, North Carolina, in response to a proposed condominium development on the steep slopes of Elk Mountain above the Sherwood Heights and Lakeview Park neighborhoods. It works to educate the public on the costs of developing steep slopes, to prevent building on at-risk steep-slope property by legal means, and, where development can't be stopped, to lessen its negative impacts.
