Citrus County Audubon Society is an all-volunteer chapter of Audubon Florida and the National Audubon Society, founded in 1971 and dedicated to conserving local wildlife and natural resources through education and community support. It runs youth birding and journaling programs in middle schools, maintains bluebird boxes along the Withlacoochee State Trail, distributes birding materials through county libraries, and organizes 15-20 guided field trips a year plus the annual Christmas Bird Count.
