Contoocook River Improvement Society
A New Hampshire nonprofit founded in 1909 dedicated to maintaining and restoring the Contoocook River, based in the Concord/Penacook area where the river meets the Merrimack. Its stated purpose is preventing impediments to navigation and fostering recreational and community use of the river; the organization's own site describes it simply as 'a voice for the river.'
