The Coosa River Basin Initiative is a Rome, Georgia-based nonprofit that has advocated for clean water in the upper Coosa River basin for over 30 years, working across advocacy, education, water monitoring, and restoration. It serves a highly biodiverse watershed spanning northwest Georgia, northeast Alabama, and southeastern Tennessee (including the Etowah, Oostanaula, and Coosa Rivers), and has helped stop PFAS pollution of drinking water supplies, secured over $1 million for habitat and endangered-species restoration, and pushed for state hazardous-waste cleanup funding.
