Downeast Lakes Land Trust is a community-based 501(c)(3) founded in 2001 and based in Grand Lake Stream, Maine, working to sustain the long-term economic and environmental well-being of the Downeast Lakes region through forest and water conservation. It owns and manages the roughly 57,000-acre Downeast Lakes Community Forest for wildlife habitat, sustainable forest products, and public recreation, and has helped protect about 370,000 acres of forests, watersheds, and lakeshores overall. Its tagline is "Forests and Lakes – For People – Forever," and it also runs a carbon program and educational workshops.
