Downeast Salmon Federation

Downeast Salmon Federation works to restore ecological health in Downeast Maine, primarily Hancock and Washington counties, by protecting sea-run fish (like Atlantic salmon) and restoring their river and stream habitats. Its work includes habitat restoration projects such as the Cherryfield Fish Passage Improvement Project on the Narraguagus River, conservation hatcheries for fish propagation, a Land Trust division that conserves property, fisheries field research, and community education and outreach. The organization is Land Trust Accredited and describes its approach as restoring "rivers back to life in Downeast Maine — one fish, one stream, one community at a time."
