Downwinders at Risk is a Dallas-Fort Worth grassroots environmental justice organization that has advocated for clean air in North Texas since 1994, originally formed to fight hazardous waste incineration at Midlothian cement plants. It works through resident-led community organizing, public education on air quality science, and SharedAirDFW, a network of 15+ air monitors providing real-time pollution data, with current campaigns targeting asphalt shingle factories and land-use planning in Fort Worth.
