The Environmental Law Institute (ELI) is a Washington, D.C. nonprofit environmental law and policy research and education organization, founded in 1969, whose stated mission is to make law work for people, places, and the planet. It conducts research on environmental governance, runs capacity-building programs, publishes reports and educational materials, and convenes environmental professionals through seminars and conferences, domestically and internationally.
